Indemnification (or Indemnity): An undertaking by one party (the indemnifying party or carrier) to compensate the other party (the indemnified party or homeowner) for certain costs and expenses, typically stemming from third-party claims (contractor). Source: Thompson Reuters
Indemnification is the right to be made whole within the limits of your policy. This means that if something goes wrong and you experience a loss or damage covered by your insurance, you have the right to receive compensation, and to have your mitigation and repair expenses paid for. However, it will only be up to the specific limits set by your insurance policy. So, the insurance helps you financially within those defined limits, ensuring you're not left in a difficult situation due to unexpected events.

If you are connected with one of our pre-qualified contractors, you can expect to sign a document with multiple sections. The three sections that people generally have the most questions on are:
AOB (Assignment of Benefits) - a contract that allows us to communicate and work directly with the insurance carrier regarding the emergency tree removal service.
PTC (Permission to Contact) - gives your signed permission for us to communicate with the insurance carrier on your behalf for the emergency tree removal service. It also allows for your carrier to share necessary policy information and documentation directly with us.
DTP (Direction to Pay) - The Policy Holder giving signed permission for the insurance carrier to send payment directly to Global Insurance Billing for the emergency tree removal service.

Even though the bill is technically yours, your insurance company's responsibility is to indemnify you within the limits of your policy. (See definition of indemnification) We pursue the insurance company for direct payment from the beginning. We do this in an attempt to keep the financial burden off of you up front, so you do not have to seek indemnification later.
Deductible: If the carrier applies the deductible to the emergency tree invoice, you will be responsible for paying that amount.
